The weather was kind to us, in spite of the forcasts and Roy Butt very kindly loaned us a lorry for a stage and Iggy did his usual high standard of sound engineering. Our compère was Tam the trombonist and we had a wonderful selection of acts, all local or with local connections, including Barry and Dave doing a very good Guitar/drums/vocal duo with a very good rendition of copperhead road amongst others. Then we had DADs (Dunsford Amateur Dramatics) doing some excellant musical songs including a wonderful Rogers and Hammerstein medley. Next was the Father and Son drumming duo of Steve and Joel Crossan. Look out Steve, your son has certainly inherited your talents!
Next we had the wonderful Jazz band made up of local talents including Tam, Steve, Dave and my apologies to the others as I don't know their names. They were joined for a while by Josh Lygo with his Clarinet. Then we had a wonderful "bad" style dancing display by Tam's son, followed by some excellant intercontinental music from Jay Astbury on the didgeridoo, Indian Dave on the drums and again my apologies I don't know the name of the other drummer but they jelled really well. Jay even demonstrated how a vacuum cleaner pipe could be substituted for a didge! This was followed by three Daves and Barry doing some very good guitar/vocal/drumming work and was nicely rounded off with a duet from Dave and Hayley!
We raised about £400 for Devon Air Ambulance. When you venture out to this neck of the woods, this really is a worth while charity as the nearest hospital is a long way away if you're in serious trouble! It certainly proved the Teign Valley has talent and well done to everybody who overcame their stage nerves and took part. it made for a very pleasant afternoon.
